ICT Subject Leaders' Meeting - June 21st 2012

A big thank you again to all the subject leaders who attended the June ICT Subject Leaders' meeting. From my perspective it was really useful to meet with so many subject leaders and discuss how you are using ICT to support teaching and learning. This year we have now had over 50 schools represented at the meetings.

Please find a summary from the feedback questionnaire  below.

Here are three Facebook Online E-Safety Videos posted by @ictmagic. I would suggest these E-Safety videos would be suitable for year 6 children, perhaps during work preparing  them for transition to secondary school. You may want to use these videos as a starting point for a discussion. I would recommend that you watch them yourself first!

Progression in Internet Research

If I had a penny for every time I observed an ICT lesson which was based around internet research I would be a very rich man. However, in the many internet research lessons I have observed, few (if any) have taught the children how to use an internet search engine effectively and more importantly safely. Even fewer have taught the children how to discriminate between  information sources. Researching using the internet is something that every child should be taught to do in order to develop effective life long learning skills.
